   Physical Activity

The Road to Beijing
While the winter Olympics was taking palce in Beijing, our pupils were taking on various challenges and recording their activities over a two week period. The goal was to reach at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day and include some activities during the day similar to the winter sports. The pupils were learning details about various countries and winter sports on the road to Beijing.

Run Around Ireland
On returning to school all classes took on the "Run Around Ireland Challenge". There was great competition between the classes in getting to various locations around Ireland. Each lap of the all -weather pitch was the equivalent of 1 km. The active school committee kept track of progress in each classroom. There was lots of interesting cross curricular opportunities  for learning  along the way.

The Road To Tokyo
Our school was delighted to take part in the Oympics Schools Challenge.  We have several school teams all  increasing their physical activity at home and at school in their "virtual journey" to Tokyo. The pupils tracked their journey as they clocked up the Kilometres to reach Tokyo making some interesting stops and challenges along the way.
